At the University of San Diego, ten percent of the student population is connected to the military. As a member of the Policy Advisory Board (PAB) at the Burnham Moores Center for Real Estate at the University of San Diego (USD), Marc Brutten and several other PAB members donated significant gifts for scholarships for military-connected students in real estate. The scholarship fundraising efforts were catalyzed by PAB member, Daniel Epstein, a U.S. Army veteran.
Due in part to Marc Brutten’s donation, the scholarship fundraising effort reached 89 percent of its $1.8M goal as of October 14, 2021. The Burnham-Moores Center is also active in the military-veterans program at USD, to provide resources for students who have served in the military.
