In 2004, Brutten Global participated in the investment group headed by Bruce Ratner to acquire the NJ Nets (now Brooklyn Nets) for $300 million. Marc Brutten’s family hails from Brooklyn, NY, so the intention to move the team back to Brooklyn made investing in the team personal goal for Marc Brutten for many years.

After many delays to the newly proposed Atlantic Yards redevelopment, the team brought in a $200 capital infusion from a Russian businessman finally allowing the new arena to be built. The investment group retained all of the development rights for the contiguous and neighboring properties, which, upon build-out will exceed $1 billion in value.
