Brooklyn Nets

The Nets, a United States basketball team, was founded in 1967. The team is an original member of the American Basketball Association (ABA), and accepted into the National Basketball Association (NBA) as part of the NBA-ABA merger in 1976.

The Nets won two ABA championships in New York and made it to two consecutive NBA Finals appearances in the 2001–02 and 2002–03 seasons.

In 2012, the team was renamed from the New Jersey Nets to the Brooklyn Nets following its move from New Jersey to New York. The team now plays out of the Barclays Center, a new Brooklyn arena. The team is one of two NBA franchises playing in New York City.
